Abstract
Scope is to define a simplified methodology to evaluate noise level generated by a control ball valve. First step is the evaluation of aerodynamic noise generated in the valve body and outlet pipe.
Calculation of aerodynamic noise and pressure waves has been performed by steady and unsteady CFD calculation with ANSYS Fluent.
CFD results have been compared to other software and measurement taken on field during valve operation.
Work result is a tailor made modification of the available procedure for noise calculation stated on the IEC 534 code.
