a Welcome from the Chairman

Stefano Odorizzi

Welcome to the International CAE Conference proceedings kit.

This was the 28th annual edition of the Conference, an event that reflects how, in a single generation, we have collectively changed the world of engineering design. We have watched how, from its initial limited scope, industrial virtual prototyping has evolved into today’s advanced synergetic technologies, whose combined forces have led to a true revolution in modern engineering practices and in related scientific fields.

Today, Engineering Simulation is radically changing the way products are designed and produced. The challenge we are now facing is to transform existing commodity products employed in the design process into effective production tools tailored to the needs of each individual organization.

In this light, this conference provided a forum for debate on the expectations for reliable and robust models, stimulated by the needs of industry and rendered uniquely by the contributions of all of participants, whether ‘virtual prototyping’ engineers, members of the scientific community working on new theories and methods, or commercial software publishers. I hope that this proceedings kit will foster a stimulating discussion on virtual prototyping for all your future projects.
